What is DO SOMETHING!?
Since 2006, BVU has hosted Do Something!, an educational event for community members interested in learning about a local issue and ways they can get involved as volunteers. At each event, participants hear from local leaders and residents about the challenges facing our community. Then, they are invited to meet a set of nonprofit organizations working to address those challenges with the support of local volunteers. The entire event is dedicated to celebrating service, connecting citizens who care about our community, and highlighting opportunities for volunteerism.
At this special Do Something! event focused on Howard County, participants will learn about what local nonprofit agencies are doing to improve a wide range of health-related outcomes for children and young adults with the help of volunteers. By learning about these agencies' missions and visions, participants will be able to discuss how their interests, passions and skill sets can contribute to and build on the progress that has already been made. A wide variety of agencies with opportunities for volunteerism, including skills-based, direct service and board level service, means each participant will identify multiple ways to invest their time and talent in our community.
Light fare and cocktails will be provided. All proceeds support BVU, Greater Baltimore's center for volunteerism. Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be given for registrations cancelled by the attendee less than 2 business days before the scheduled event.
